CHEVROLET BEAT - PATHETIC CAR AND SERVICE
REVIEW OF CHEVROLET BEAT "" PRODUCT AND SERVICE, EQUALLY MISERABLE
I am buyer of a Chevrolet Beat 2011 November model where I now regret it all. I have had my worst of experiences and I am also providing all details of mine in this to prove that I am not agent of any competitor (as I once used to think when people post odd comments)
At the point of sales, you see all efforts and smiles of the sales agent to get a car delivered which is usual. Initially I thought of purchasing the Beat LT which was at an on-road price of Rs.4, 75, 000
On the date of delivery, they come to say that the Beat LT optional pack which comes at an On-road price of Rs.5, 30,000 can be sold to me for Rs.5, 00,000!! On asking why they are selling me this vehicle at this price, all they said is that this car was already sent a purchase order at GM and the customer changed his mind.
Then I was infact delighted and agreed but requested that I have a complete check that the vehicle is not used when they say I can choose from 3 cars of the same colour!!! How come?
AFTER SALES ABOUT THE CAR
After driving an Indica Xeta, initially on test drives I found the car so light and manageable but on purchase I started seeing this car to be feather light that even another car that passes you will make you feel being shaken!
Ok being light, does it have the right torque and acceleration? Slows down easily in the 5th gear even at the far sight of a slightly elevated road! If we shift the gear to second after a bump, it literally cries to gain momentum
If you park the car with one of the wheels on a slope edge, you can see the back tyres in the air floating that you feel the car is a sea sow and we can see the car swinging! So funny a chassis…
The car talks about ABS and Alloy wheels, which costs you nearly Rs.50,000 more than the previous version and we think why ABS when the car itself has no control at high speeds. There is a limit to what an ABS can perform upon skidding…pathetically bad on controllability
The quality of fitments- The car is fitted with a music system that has its USB Port, a thing like never seen in the world where you cannot plug your pen drive in but instead need to find a connector chord, which is again not available anywhere, including the dealers
Speakers and Audio system - The front 2 inbuilt speakers got spoilt in the two weeks after purchase. The surprise is the audio system which they so claim in to be Nippon has no power to even have a high watt power speakers attached. Finally they say I should not park my car in the sun… I din't know that bought an ice cream instead of a car!
Then where can we play high beats? Upon taking it to a Car accessory shop and on it being removed, they find that the speakers don't even have a company name. Such poor quality ones and cannot be replaced by high quality ones as the player won't withstand it!! Also people don't choose one of such kinds and had to search for a one that matched its low power output. Now the speakers bought from outside works perfectly even after 9 months.
COMING TO THE MISERIES IN SERVCE
ISSUE 1-THE MUSIC SYSTEM AND SPEAKERS
In the first month, I happened to chase and chase the dealer - Chevrolet Deedi Motors in Trivandrumfor a right USB chord which I got after a week and then connected a Pen drive and to my surprise, the new pen drive showed up as Error "" No File.
On getting that checked, I took my car to the workshop and instead of possible error findings, they removed the system and gave it for repairs, which took a week's time. Then finally it came back when they said there is no problem with the system, instead argued with me that it was the problem with my pen drive.
Then I agreed on that date when one of the service people tried their pen drive and it worked by luck! Know how?? I came to know it late.
A car manufactured by GM fitted a system which can read only those songs uploaded from a Windows 2003 operating system and not XP or especially the 2007! How funny that after say 10 years, I will have to search for a 2003 version to upload my songs!!!!
Upon lots of argument I asked the agent to play it in their new version Chevrolet Beats with the standard pen drives and it worked perfectly!! Then I said, I wanted it replaced as the car is within the one year replacement warranty on faulty parts and accessories. For this, they have a 100 procedures and I have to end up shelling my time and money.
Till date I have neither got it replaced, repaired or should say nothing done. You call these service people for escalations, their managers are never at the seat and in case you get to a Manager, they have no authority to act… so funny!!
ISSUE 2-THE GREAT KEY LESS CENTRAL LOCKING
Got the car initially fitted with the GM genuine key less entry and I can't avoid laughing saying the way it works. A keyless remote should work like this: - Open the doors using key less, get inside and close all doors. The auto lock should ideally fall when you start the engine or when you apply first breaks or when the vehicle reached 20 kmph
Know how it works on mine?? I get into the car and close all doors- put the key in and the vehicle auto locks, then on starting the engine it unlocks and then never locks again. Also even if we manually lock it and there be a situation that we need to unlock in between, it will never auto lock again
What should I say about the knowledge of the guys who fitted this?? Now I am running behind this with the garage and for this also they have 100 explanations.
ISSUE 3-WOW WHAT A WHEEL ALLIGNMENT AND BALANCING
My car has till date not jumped a ditch or pit to cause a deviation in wheel alignment so early but I should give credits to the strength of the mighty suspensions and wheel rods that my car started showing a clear lefting upon drive. Again told the service people to rectify it and finally got the car back with nothing done. All back to over bumpy feelings on irregular roads and car goes left side, always wanting us to apply pressure on the steering.
The other day, I took it to a nearby alignment and balancing center, now the car is back to its normal initial drive. Whom should I blame and where should a person who has not time to run behind go and complain?
ISSUE 4 "" THEIR CHARGES, AWESOME
Upon a small loss of paint on the rear back on the bumpers, which I would say can be seen if you look carefully. The scratch may be the size of one finger that on the bumper only which required painting on just one plate. The dealers straightway said Rs.1700.
The same thing I went to a local garage where they took time in explaining the quality of paints which started from Rs.600 to Rs.900 including labour!! Look at the difference
I AM FED UP WITH THESE PEOPLE AND I AM JUST POSTING ON NET COZ…
You can easily ask me a question "" why din't I see all this at the time of purchase. I can only say that I din't do my homework properly but I do not want the future buyers to suffer the plight I had been though. So please make a diligent choice else suffer the craps in the way I did. This is a genuine mail and I am open to all conversation with genuine planners to buy this *** vehicle. I have attached the pics and details below.
